My BIG fitness goal for the next few months is to prepare to hike to the top of Mount Timpanogos in Utah.
When I was in high school my Dad and I started hiking this mountain a few times each year. It became a tradition that I looked forward to and it was a chance to really spend quality time with my dad. In fact I would say that prior to this tradition we really never talked and did not really have much of a relationship...
Well, I moved to Spain for while. I finished up college right in the shadow of the mountain and then moved to Louisiana. It has been eight years since I climbed that mountain. I have made trips home and certainly had opportunities to hike the mountain, but truth be told I have not been in the shape to do it. This job down here in Louisiana has taken up all of my time and made me soft and weak.
I have vowed to hike it this year in July.
- The hike is a total of 15 miles, 7.5 to the top and 7.5 back down.
- The elevation gain is about +4, 500 feet.
